Big Joe presents a favorite restaurant with a great view
As the weather here in New Jersey warms up and thoughts of summer dance through our heads, I like to gear up and get ready to enjoy my favorite beachfront restaurants and bars.
One of my favorites is Mister C’s Beach Bistro in Allenhurst, NJ. The restaurant has a slight overhang on the beach capturing the beauty of the ocean and a clean beach.
The restaurant offers one of the most magnificent views on the Jersey Shore. I feel like I’m at a high end beach club without having to pay the monthly membership fee.
I so enjoy the food, cocktails and atmosphere at Mister C’s Beach Bistro – Bar in Allenhurst. The restaurant was built in 1931 to resemble the outer hull of an ocean liner. The restaurant offers one of the most magnificent views on the Jersey Shore. I feel like I’m at a high end beach club without having to pay the monthly membership fee.
The restaurant is well laid out, the staff and food are on point and you really feel like you’re on vacation when you walk into Mister C’s. Owners Karen Marzulli and Chic Perrotto (Mister C himself) have been partners for nearly 30 years.
The success of Mister C’s began in 1991 at Deal; they then moved and opened their current restaurant in Allenhurst in 2006. Karen and Mister C worked hard to renovate and rebuild the restaurant after Hurricane Sandy caused devastating damage. They did a great job.
The restaurant is large and also a great location for small private parties. You have to check out the bridge and the view; this is awesome so much, i used the game to include my photo for the cover of this book.
I enjoy the food and cocktail selection at Mister C’s. My favorites are the Tuna Tartare, Ahi Tuna Nachos, and the Calamari/Shrimp with Tai Chilli Glaze. All very good. Chef Tony Ibanez spent time at Le Cirque in New York and continues to cook great dishes with Jersey Shore flair and ambiance. He put a meatball on the appetizer menu and I have to tell you it rivals some of the best Italian restaurants.
Chef Tony made a side-to-side crab cake for this cookbook. The chef spent some time in California and now lives here in New Jersey and infused a little from both coasts to whip up this delicious recipe.
Mister C’s boasts an award-winning mixologist in the person of Kevin Harvey. He is awesome and knows his cocktails; in fact, Kevin was cast as the guest bartender for this cookbook. I’m glad we can include it.
You have to try its amazing drinks while admiring the amazing view and tasting great dishes from the full menu. Mister C’s does it well, make it part of your foodie destination, you’ll be so glad you did, I sure am.
Coast to Coast Crab Cakes from Mister C
Half duchess crab / half crab in pieces
3 oz crushed Ritz crackers
2 oz chopped celery
3 dabs of hot sauce (I like cholula)
a teaspoon of Dijon mustard
a teaspoon of lemon aioli (lemon juice and mayonnaise)
Place all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Gently mix the ingredients. Make a 3 oz ball with the ingredients and place it in the crushed Ritz crackers, covering the crabmeat. Cook for a few minutes. Goes great with a salad! For two !
