MUMBAI: The international logistics and freight services provider (India) announced on Thursday that it is set to launch a price discovery and supply chain automation platform to ensure efficiency and transparency in the highly fragmented national maritime industry. The comprehensive platform will offer cross-border solutions for ocean and air shipments as well as first-mile transportation, last-mile delivery and customs clearance, among others, the company said in a statement.

The company said it plans to integrate freight insurance and financing, among other features on the platform, once the pilot phase begins, to create a single solution for all shipping requirements.

The aim is to build a strong customer base of MSMEs in the Indian market for a seamless and hassle-free customer experience, he said, adding that the proposed digital platform disrupts the existing manual norms of operations in the industry. freight.

The platform, which will be rolled out first in the country and then in select developing economies, will make shipping accessible to more than 63 million MSMEs (micro, small and medium-sized enterprises) in the country, Tiger Logistics said. , citing a report from CII.

MSMEs account for up to 40% of the country’s overall exports and 6.11% of the country’s manufacturing GDP, in addition to accounting for 24.63% of the services sector GDP, he said.

“Technology is the buzzword right now. Shipping cannot lag behind, if we are to sustain business. This new digital segment will help exporters and importers instantly book their freight, automate their documentation process, track their shipments and manage payments in one platform,” said Harpreet Singh Malhotra, CMD, Tiger Logistics.

The platform will offer real-time rates, full visibility and access to instant information on shipment updates, he added.

“International shipping is highly disorganized, marred by inefficiencies and currently going through a massive freight and container crisis. While large shippers have the power to negotiate rates directly with multinational carriers and freight forwarders, SMEs and MSMEs are being left behind, and with our new platform we hope to change that and democratize access to freight services for all businesses,” said Simar Malhotra, Head, Key Accounts and Head of Digital.
