Pacific International Lines appoints new CEO

Lars Kastrup is the new boss of Pacific International Lines (PIL), whose headquarters have been in Singapore since July 1, following a decision by the company’s board of directors.
As General Manager Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PIL, Kastrup will be responsible for leading the carrier’s growth and development, including its path to sustainability transformation towards net zero carbon emissions, according to PIL’s statement.
Formerly Co-Chairman and Executive Director since March 2021, Kastrup has experience and expertise as a shipping industry veteran with over 30 years of professional experience, serving in leadership roles including CEO of NOL/ APL and various management positions at CMA CGM and Maersk.
SS Teo, Executive Chairman of PIL, said: “Since Lars joined us in July 2020, first as a Senior Advisor and then Co-Chairman and Executive Director, he has launched various business and operational initiatives that have enabled the ‘business to benefit from the strong market. He was instrumental in restructuring, streamlining and optimizing our commercial network and vessel deployment aimed at transforming PIL into a strong and efficient shipping company.

The Singaporean container shipping company also announced the retirement of Gan Chee Yen, who joined PIL as a senior adviser in July 2020 before becoming co-chairman and chief executive in March 2021.
